"CHENNAI" the next "DETROIT"??

I never blog on facts as a whole but this .. I really dont know can you mark it as a fact or a fiction.. I have just completed my B.Tech in Automobile Engineering under calicut university and just as every graduate does after their studies.. Even i am hunting for a job in the sector... But when i put down the key words of automotive jobs..  every link i come across takes me to chennai. Is it true then? .. has chennai become the hub of Automotive technology in the whole of ASIA?.. I would say it is more of a topic to debate on as you can take nothing away from china whose automotive market grew at a scorching 42 percent when compared to Indias 26.42. But still when you look at it the Indian market especially at chennai which has shot up into the sky with BMW ,FORD, MITSUBISHI , NISSAN all setting up their plants in at such a fast rate. And then i wondered ..but how?? with all the recession happening around the world, how did India manage to get such a big growth?? maybe because the government provided ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURING which was the major concern globally. India is a small car marketing sector and mainly the hatchbacks are having a huge demand in the country when compared to the coupe and the sedans. The year the recession rattled the whole world there was a major demand for the hatchbacks for 2 years in Europe, and India was the best low cost manufacturing hub for hatchbacks. Chennai has the maximum number of Automotive projects in the country which is around 39 out of the 75 ongoing projects in "south india".The automotive giants call chennai as the best breeding ground for automotive technology in the world. Still we cannot call it as the Detroit because the scenario in chennai is completely different from what is happening elsewhere. even when Countries like brazil and mexico are having the most no: of production and sales in the automotive industry. But with such a growth rate in India and still with the hunger for more , iam sure one day all this would enable chennai to be the best if only the greatest automobile hub in the world in due course. The present NEXT DETROIT will be then called the FIRST CHENNAI.
